What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy focuses on addressing a child’s ability to engage in everyday activities, including motor skills, focus, and peer socialization. These skills can be hindered if they experience disruptions in their sensory processing. Disruption in the normal processing of sensory information can result in any of the following:

  • Avoids getting messy or touching objects with certain textures
  • Doesn’t seem to notice mess on face or hands
  • Decreased or increased sensitivity to pain
  • Difficulty staying on task
  • Walks on his/her toes
  • Is bothered by the touch of others or touches others to an irritating degree
  • Distracted by sounds or lights that others may not notice
  • Tantrums are easily triggered by environmental stimuli
  • Fear of movement or frequently in motion
  • Hypersensitive to bright lights or certain sounds

How does Occupational Therapy at the Clubhouse work?

At the Clubhouse, our pediatric occupational therapy team is committed to providing outstanding comprehensive care for your child. At the heart of our approach is the unique integration of multiple specialties under one roof, ensuring that every child receives tailored support that spans beyond conventional therapy.

Our specialized team focuses on addressing a broad spectrum of occupational therapy needs, not only within the clinical setting but extending our support to where your child spends most of their time: at home and in school. This holistic approach allows us to create a seamless transition of therapeutic practices and strategies across all environments, promoting consistent progress and development.

Recognizing the importance of a collaborative effort in a child’s development, the Clubhouse offers a range of services including screenings and informative presentations specifically designed for parents, teachers, and community members. These initiatives are aimed at empowering those involved in the child’s life with the knowledge and tools necessary to support their journey towards achieving optimal independence and success.
