SOCIAL GROUPS

Now Forming Fall Social Groups!

Why choose the Clubhouse Small Group Therapy?

At the Clubhouse, we believe in the power of peers. That’s why all of our social groups are structured around the EDGE model, or “Enhanced Development through Group Experiences”. The EDGE model is more than just an acronym—it’s our philosophy, and it’s built around important tenets that help children and their families succeed. So how do our groups give your child the EDGE?

Economical: Through our EDGE model, we are able to offer all of these services each week for much less than the cost of an hour of traditional therapy.

Communication: Communication is the cornerstone of human interaction. The EDGE model incorporates providing critical communication and information to caregivers while therapeutically guiding children to develop their skills with peers.

Effective: Therapists are not magicians who change the lives of children via isolated sessions each week. However, real magic does occur when therapists empower families to incorporate professional strategies throughout their daily activities each week. This is the key ingredient to the Clubhouse EDGE model.

Interdisciplinary Support: The Clubhouse is home to multiple professional disciplines and we incorporate all of their combined knowledge into our groups.

Parent Networking: Our parents bond with each other and form communities while providing each other with valuable information. Parents leave with increased confidence, real working knowledge, and ideas from other parents. Sometimes the most valuable advice we can get is through other parents.

Types of Groups

Let’s face it—if kids don’t have fun in the group, they aren’t going to get the maximum benefit! From the moment you enter the Clubhouse, you and your child will feel the difference. From the Clubhouse Café to our exciting gym, it’s all designed with kids in mind. But don’t let the environment fool you – we’re serious about our therapy and outcomes and secure only highly qualified staff to be on the Clubhouse Team.

Current Groups

Dino Diggers is a developmental playgroup designed to promote your child’s curiosity, communication, and social development in a fun and friendly learning environment!

Each week our explorers bring home a Dino Box filled with activities to carry on the Dino hunt at home. Families receive a summary of the group activities and have an opportunity to consult with the therapists.

There are picky eaters, and then there are PICKY EATERS! Parents are often distressed by finicky eating, especially when it starts to interfere with nutrition. Sometimes, feeding problems are the result of sensory or motor-based feeding issues.

This group meets in our bright and cheerful “Clubhouse Café,” where our therapists maximize the positive influence of peers to help children develop all-new eating habits.

This developmental playgroup designed to promote your child’s curiosity, communication, and social development in a fun and friendly learning environment! Each week we will explore a different fall theme and discover new ways to have fun.

This social communication program is based on the awesome work of Michelle Garcia Winner’s Social Thinking and designed for children and adolescents who are experiencing difficulty with interpersonal communication with peers.

Group Waitlist

This speech and language-focused group is designed with our littlest friends in mind. These play-based weekly themes focus on increasing expressive communication and sound production.

Hear 2 Play is a weekly group for children aged 18 months to 3 years with hearing loss run by a speech-language pathologist and developmental-hearing therapist. The group experience utilizes visual/gestural languageauditory/verbal language, and listening techniques.

Children participate in monthly themes enabling them to learn new vocabulary and concepts while generalizing them to their daily lives.

Children have the chance to socialize with other hearing aid, cochlear implant, and BAHA users and their parents have the chance to form relationships with other parents to share in all of their children’s struggles and successes!

“Pragmatics in Action” is adapted for younger kids. In this group, children participate in fun and games while our Speech Therapists guide them in refining their peer interaction skills like turn-taking, dealing with winning and losing, “chatting”, perspective taking, respecting the feelings of others, and self-regulation. Participants should be able to function independently.

Fun With Food is designed to increase comfort around food while decreasing anxiety around mealtimes and the tactile sensitivities associated with different foods. This group will focus on arts, crafts, and games, all using food as the centerpiece of the fun. There will be no expectation of eating but is always welcomed if the child chooses to.

At the Clubhouse, we know kids learn best from each other! In this group for children with hearing loss, we will learn communication strategies and listening skills needed to interact with peers and develop friendships. Skills targeted will include environmental and speech strategies, listening through background noise, and social conversations with peers.

Learn printing with a positive outlook and cursive with a smile! For some children the most frustrating part of school is having a head full of wonderful, creative ideas but no way to express them on paper. This unique handwriting program incorporates nationality recognized programs and our own expertise to provide the best possible experience for kids.

Speech/Language Pathologists are highly trained to diagnose and treat many of the fundamental difficulties that result in reading difficulties. “Practice” alone does not result in improvement when children are struggling due to an underlying deficit in phonology or language. We take off where the regular classroom curriculum ends and dig deeper into the root cause – and cure – of the reading disorder. Free screenings are provided.

Make new friends while learning the basics of American Sign Language! In this group, we’ll cover concepts like introductions, basic conversation, actions, food, and family through art projects, movement activities, conversation games, and more!

This therapeutic social group focuses on Executive Functioning skills such as planning, organizing, sequencing, problem-solving, working memory, and more while focusing on topics of teen and preteen interests.
