Pragmatics in Action!
(Speech Pathology and Counseling)
Establishing friendships and play skills is a vital part of childhood. The fields of Speech Pathology and Behavioral Counseling join forces to help kids
develop social communication skills such as turn taking and reciprocity, understanding the perspective of others, and body language recognition, through
fun, theme-based activities. Participants in this group must have adequate language skills to carry on a conversation, be able to follow directions
independently, and be independent when participating in a group. Min/Max: 4/8
Ages 4 to 7  Day: Wednesday: 4:30-5:30 Thursday: 4:30-5:30
Ages 8 to 10  Day: Thursday: 4:15-5:15
Slice O' Life
(Counseling and Speech Pathology)
Taking Pragmatics and putting it into real life situations. This group offers real life experiences in the community, coupled with clinical training at the Clubhouse!
Skills addressed include social referencing in new situations, problem solving, developing situation specific communication styles and more! The group is lead by our
Speech/Language Pathologists and our Clinical Counselor - who has 20 years experience as a LCPC and 18 years experience as a Foster parent to special needs children.
Ages 11 to 13  Day: Tuesday: 4:30-5:30*

Move It and Groove It!
(OT and Counseling)
Led by licensed clinical professional counselor Frank Bresemann, and our O.T., the Move It and Groove It Club uses movement and fitness to help children understand difficult emotions
like anxiety, frustration, how emotions affect the body, and what to do when strong feelings arise. The group teaches children ways to redirect, express, and handle
their emotions in creative ways. The group exercises and activities emphasize social interaction, body awareness, self recognition, and emotional awareness. This is an
excellent group for chilren with self-esteem issues, children who isolate or have difficulty with outbursts, and children with high anxiety. Frank has experience as a
personal fitness trainer and coach. He is very excited to be able to offer this unique, therapeutic experience and can't wait to get it movin' in a positive direction!
Ages 5 to 7 Day: Monday: 4:15-5:15

Feeding the Picky Eater
This group meets in our bright and cheerful Clubhouse Café, where Speech Pathologists maximize the influence of peers to help children
develop all new eating habits. Participants should be independent in group. Min/Max: 3/6
Ages 2 to 4  Day: Tuesday: 9:15-10:30
Music Therapy Group
Our Board Certified Music Therapist engages kids and their care takers with her guitar and beatiful voice. Kids become little musicians by joining in with other
instruments. Music is a proven and effective venue for enhancing communication skills, helping children cope with social and emotional challenges and improving
other developmental areas.
Ages 3 to 5  Days: Thursday: 9:00-10:00 Friday: 10:45-11:45
Language and Lyrics!
(Music Therapist and Clinical Counselor)
Our Music Therapist and LCPC have struck a chord and offer a music-based pragmatics group. Many children have difficulty in traditional counseling settings. Music will
be used to develop a foundation of social/emotional skills, communication, and language competency. Children will develop emotional understanding, coping strategies,
turn taking and understanding the perspective of others.
Ages 3 to 5 Day: Friday: 9:30-10:30
Friendship, Fun and Games!
(Speech/Language Pathologists)
Sometimes the greatest challenge for children who struggle with social skills is using them effectively during everyday childhood activities. In this group,
children participate in fun and games while our Speech Therapists guide them in refining their peer interaction skills like turn taking, dealing with winning and
losing, “chatting”, perspective taking, respecting the feelings of others, and self-regulation. Participants should be independent, and ready to focus on
“fine-tuning” their social skills.
Min/Max: 4/8
Ages 3 to 5  Day: Friday: 1:30-2:30

Karate for Everyone!
Exercise, coordination, and FUN! Our Martial Arts instructor, a brown belt in Martial Arts and experienced Special Olympics coach, teams up with our licensed O.T. to
create a dynamic program that emphasizes coordination, balance, motor planning, and strength -- and helps children of all abilities develop focus, attention, and
self-control. Participants should be independent in group. Min/Max: 3/6
OT PRESCRIPTION REQUIRED for therapeutic intervention.
Ages 4 to 10  Day: Wednesday: 4:30-5:30
Chatter Club
Speech and language set in play, with theme-based classes that focus on increasing expressive communication and sound production. Our therapists use
music, art, and other exciting activities to enhance participation and peer interaction through verbal language. Participants should be independent in group.
(2 – 3 year olds not quite ready to “chatter” should consider “Body Talk!”) Min/Max: 3/6
Ages 2 to 3  Day: Monday: 11:00-12:15
Ages 4 to 5  Day: Tuesday: 2:15-3:15
Body Talk!
Language Development, motor skills, sensory integration, and pre-preschool skills are the combined focus of this group. Our Speech and Occupational Therapists
collaborate to work with 2-3 year olds whose skills are emerging, but who require a structural small group setting. Picture schedules, music, gym time, and circle
time help this little crowd get ready to go to school!
Min/Max: 3/4
